Our very Children's Book with 100% of the Profits Going to Support: Access to school, job training, medical support, malnutrition prevention programs, clean water, family unification & child protection services, indigenous woman's weaving and entrepreneurial center, cooperative day care; as well as the preservation of indigenous dialects, land and culture in Guatemala!
A Project with a Purpose... or Four!
Depicting Diverse Families - The key characters, two children and their Mom, do not look alike. This is intentional, because family members do not always look alike. Taking Time – There is a message in the book to stop and take time off once in a while and just spend it together, and a reminder of where great memories come from... those moments which become priceless. Learning from our Children - Celebrating how much we can learn from children when we stop and listen. All Sales to The Guatemala Aid Fund – 100 % of the sales from the Book will be going to Guatemalan-run successful programs focused on eradicating the root causes of poverty, malnutrition, child abandonment and lack of access to water, healthcare and education in Guatemala that often result in desperate and dangerous migration.
A NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
This book has been a dream of mine since our kids were in Kindergarten. It was hard for me to find any books to share with our
children that had children of color, let alone children of color with parents with a different skin color! I held on to the scrap of paper that had the poem type story I wrote on it for more than 15 years. In 2017 I
was blessed to have my sister Martha, an accomplished marketing professional do
the editing and amazing wordsmithing to
make the story
truly pop alive.
I was then
introduced to our incredible illustrator, Dawn Prindall by my best friends. She took the words right
off the pages with her incredible illustrations full of
whimsy, flow,
color
and heartfelt meaningful details. There are accents of Guatemalan culture through out, and so many vibrant, uniqu
e and
loving details. It has been amazing to watch this book develop and become even better than I could ever have imagined with the input from Martha and Dawn. I can't wait for you to have it in your hand and I know you will enjoy the deep love that has gone into it! Thank you so much for your support, Love Bethany
